“MOMENTS OF AMAZINGNESS” AT THE DUNES…..

It’s been a while since I have written an update on our progress on Phase 1 at The Dunes and honestly that’s because at this stage of the build it’s just a question of doing the work and not a lot of exciting things are going on that seem compelling enough to write about.

Of course, lots of important things happen every day - electrical, plumbing, rendering, more concrete, but not work that inspires a lot of writing, albeit very important to get right…and we focus on that every day. Only 80 days till Villa 1 will be complete…. So why have I titled this piece “Moment of Amazingness”? During this build, as you can imagine, we are knee deep in the construction proce

ss -not very glamorous and often hot and dusty. The difference is that this is happening right on the beautiful and secluded West Grace Bay Beach at Smiths Reef and every day we have unanticipated “amazing moments”. I thought I would share just a few of them with you. Of course, every day you have the amazing waters of the Turks and Caicos to enjoy and the views from every part of the Villa are truly spectacular. When you stand in the bedrooms you really do feel as if you are suspended over the water. It truly takes my breath away every time I walk into these rooms. During the hot summer months the breezes that blow through the house remind me why the house is designed the way it is and what talent our architect has. The quality of the build is second to none and we feel we are not only building a beautiful villa but a substantial one that will stand up to beach living. But it’s the small things you can’t anticipate that provide “Moments to Own” every day. We had some friends at the site last week with their two grandchildren. Two little boys who love to explore…. As they ran down to the crystal clear water they found an underwater world waiting for them (ankle deep) full of interest and diversity. “Could they eat the snails?” they asked, “Was that really a starfish, stingray, turtle???” Mother Nature entertained them for hours and, even better, we didn’t have a piece of technology in sight. As we adults sat sipping some wine and watching the spectacular sunset, we realized once again what a special gift it was to have a development on this part of the island. Paradise found! I am not sure if you follow us on Instagram but if you do you will have seen our resident Dunes wildlife. I was walking around one day and had the pleasure of seeing an Osprey fly right over the house. He has since taken up residence on various perches around the property, no doubt on the lookout for a snack at Smiths Reef. When I was growing up in Scotland, lots of work was being done to save the Ospreys and to protect their nests. There were very few pairs in the country and we were concerned they would disappear from the Cairngorms where they came every year to breed. So to have a such a beautiful bird grace us with their presence is Amazing…

Finally, about three weeks ago we had our first marriage proposal. A young couple had walked along the

beach at sunset looking for a special place to picnic. The girl had no idea that her partner was about to propose and was unaware of the plan. When they reached the beach in front of the Dunes, they decided it was the perfect place for the sunset picnic. As the sun went down, Justin dropped to one knee, heart racing, and asked the question. Fortunately Lisa said YES and they plan to marry in Canada next year. We wish them every happiness in the future.

People choose to buy a home in Turks and Caicos because they know it’s one of the most beautiful spots on earth. The Dunes will offer the Owner every luxury and the amazing service and care that comes with being a member of the Grace Bay Resorts family is second to none. What they may not know, is that the beauty of this place is not just about the beach and the luxury. It's an intangible atmosphere that can only be experienced when you spend time here. It truly is a question of opening yourself up to Moment of Amazingness. They will happen…… Own The Moment..... Warm regards Your Developers, Tom and Catherine
